Got Irony?

No, this isn't a high school English class. Merriam-Webster's online dictionary has a variety of definitions for irony, but since I'm seeking the non-literary version, "incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the normal or expected result, or: an event or result marked by such incongruity" seems adequate enough.
If you look at your own life, you'll find plenty of examples of irony. For me, irony is writing home and garden magazine features--when I am renowned for having significant deficits in the home-decorating arena. (But hey, I know theoretically how to bring life to my tired family room. I just can't make a decision to start the process.)
Christmas Greetings Past Due

A Facebook friend chided me recently for failing to send my family's holiday greeting letter these past few years. Apparently, there are a few souls out there who looked forward to our humor-laced "annual disaster letter," as somebody once coined it. I adopted this unconventional update when my children were young and the rest of the world seemed to be having exciting adventures. My husband and I had a great time crafting an update about what we DIDN'T do (as well as chronicling our many unbelievable-but-true mishaps), thus creating somewhat of a Christmas tradition.

The commercial got my attention with the promise that this product was "rated #1 among dermatologists" for its anti-aging formula.
Ok, tell me more.
Fewer wrinkles, fewer lines, firmer skin. Reports from everyday women (who look mysteriously like they're about 20 years old). Sounds good so far.

I'm late posting this. Written more than a week ago, it's been sitting on my desk waiting for...what? All of you moms of college kids might understand. To those of you waiting for this transition, don't worry: it's all good.My legs aren't working too well today. It's probably the multiple flights of steps I climbed (foolishly) the past two days, coupled with the trek across campus locating classrooms. Or maybe it was the return trips to Target to purchase batteries and light bulbs and plastic drawers which we didn't anticipate needing.
Or it could just be that I'm spent--physically and emotionally-- after moving my oldest child into his college dorm.
