"For He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."-Hebrews 13:5

Hebrews 13:5 tells us that Jesus will never leave us or forsake us We are also told that because of this, we may boldly say, "the Lord is my helper." The word "boldly" means to have confidence. No matter the circumstances we face, we have assurance that God always has his eye on us. Let me illustrate:

On a recent overnight trip, I noticed the moon was clearly visible in the night sky. As the Sun slowly began to rise, the moon seemed to disappear. The brightness of the Sun made the moon virtually invisible. Everyone knows that the moon has no light of its own, but is simply being lit by the Sun shining on it. As the Sun grew brighter, the moon became less and less visible. Though the moon was no longer seen by me, in another part of the world it was night and this same invisible moon was glowing bright, lit by the Sun.

When God shines on you, the brightness of His glory may make your life totally invisible as well. The light of the Sun made the moon invisible to me but it was shining bright to those on the other side of the Earth. To you it may seem that no one sees the suffering you are going through, but in Heaven, your life, your pain, and your struggles are shining bright as you are laying up treasures in Heaven that no man can destroy.

What's my point? When it is night here, the Sun makes the moon glow. When it is daytime here, the moon may not be clearly visible to us, but the Sun is still shining on the moon in another part of the world. Just as the Sun never stops shining on the moon, we are never out of God's sight. There are times in life as a Christian when we can feel God's warmth in our life. Just like the moon at night, we can feel God very present in our life. Sometimes we feel like the moon during the day, totally invisible to God.

Perhaps you are living the life of a single parent, working two jobs, trying to go to school and managing time with your child. Your special needs child may need constant care. You get tired, weak, and weary. God, why is this happening? Why have you abandoned me? Rest assured, He has not! II Chronicles 16:2 says, "For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him." God has his eyes on you all the time. When you cry out to Him he is waiting to show His strength in your life. God will never abandon you.

Take heart, even you can't see the moon, the Sun is still shining on it. When life is overwhelming, and you feel invisible to God, around the world the Sun continues to shine on that invisible moon. In all your trials, God is still shining on you.
Don't give up. Remember the Sun, the moon, and the precious promise we have in Hebrews 13:5. "For He hath said I will never leave thee nor forsake thee."

While I was growing up, my great-grandmother tried to teach me the importance of accepting help when you need it and then paying it forward when you can, but I never truly understood what she meant until a few years ago. My husband and I tried for several years to get pregnant, to no avail. Then one month my pregnancy test came back positive, which was quite unexpected.

As a professional truck driver, I see uncontrolled road rage all over our roads and highways. Today's drivers are quickly switching lanes, trying to get ahead to be first. People tailgate, driving inches from each other at high rates of speed. I have coined a new term for people who have fits of road rage. These people are road-ragious.

Have you ever heard the howl that never ends? You know what I'm talking about--some catastrophe has occurred in the life of your three-year-old, and he gets so worked up with whining that he forgets what he's howling about or how you can fix it.

My day started with one of those yesterday.

Apple Pie on a Stick

I don't make apple pies on a stick. My friend Crystal does. She's an amazing mother. She has three boys and she delights in doing crafts, baking, and having theme parties. She makes cupcakes that rival the ones on TV. Weekly. I'm lucky if I get a cake made for my child's birthday evening and hang some balloons on the wall. I tend to be flighty and disorganized. I don't operate in themes and I don't do well planning parties. I'm learning that this is ok.
