I was born long after my grandmother died, so I did not know her personally, I'm sorry to say. But I came to love her through the stories my father and his siblings told about her, and she has always been an inspiration to me. I offer this poem as a "snapshot" of my grandmother, who wove her fierceness, nurturance and playfulness into a complicated blend of Inspired Mother.

One Mom’s Search for Healing

FrustratedMomLike many of today’s health-conscious, middle-aged adults, I am careful about reducing the amount of preservatives, additives, artificial ingredients and trans fats in my diet. Yet, I am slowly poisoning myself to death.


Daily, I inject fresh toxin into my system. Not by consuming, but by complaining, whining, ranting about my teenage daughter’s latest digression.
