The Pregnasaurus (2007), by Jodi Neelin, is dedicated “to every gigantic, clumsy, waddling, acne-ridden, emotional, furry-faced, aching barge with arms and legs.” That pretty much tells you that this little gem of a book is a lot of fun.
Written in anapestic meter (think “Twas the Night Before Christmas”), The Pregnasaurus is Neelin’s tale of one woman-turned-pregnasaurus’ journey through pregnancy and childbirth. Russell Neelin gets credit for the hysterical illustrations. Any woman who has been transformed by pregnancy will laugh at this story, and any woman about to undergo the adventure-or in the throes of it- will cherish it. The Pregnasaurus is available through www.littlesquarebook.com for $9.95 U.S. plus shipping and handling.
