Great news, Moms! Finally, someone is listening to us...and in a big way. For years parents have complained that television content is largely inappropriate for children. Sure, you may find a few wholesome options for the youngest viewers, but the television landscape is a minefield for tweens and teens. Even when you locate that elusive family program to enjoy together (i.e. The Cosby Show reruns), watch out for the commercials!

Thank heavens the TV landscape is about to change, at least temporarily. This Friday, we can all relax and enjoy a family-friendly program without answering questions about why those people are sitting outside in side-by-side bathtubs. (Congrats if you don't understand this reference. You haven't watched TV lately.)

On July 16th at 8:00 p.m., NBC will broadcast The Jensen Project, thanks to the support of Walmart and Procter & Gamble. Starring Patricia Richardson, LeVar Burton and Kellie Martin, this two-hour action film focuses on a busy family who rediscovers togetherness while trying to save the world from technology gone awry. (Watch the trailer: http://www.youtube.com) Like its enormously successful predecessor, Secrets of the Mountain, which aired in April, The Jensen Project is targeted toward adolescents and young teens, but supporters hope the appeal is much broader. Another bonus: sponsors have promised advertising as appropriate as the program itself.

Bravo to NBC, Walmart and P&G for bringing back Family Movie Night. Let's show our support by spreading the news about The Jensen Project and sending the message that American families DO value clean content. Bring it on and we'll watch!
