Looking for Humor

These days, I seek laughter. That's why I listen to country music, which has gotta be the best thing going for stressed out moms. If you can't laugh at lyrics like "I shaved my legs for this" and "you ain't much fun since I quit drinking," then life will just crush you. Warning: country tunes are not always family friendly so until you know when to hurriedly switch the station on the car radio, listen without kids in tow.

At any rate, in my Mother's Day morning search for humor I found Suburban Diva's online newsletter (www.suburbandiva.com). Her "Spilling Mother's Day" piece took me back a few years (ok, more than a few) to a Mother's Day tea with one of my sons. He didn't want to attend because the kids had to dance with their moms and he hates dancing...still, by the way. (He also dislikes my penchant for country music.) The two of us sat and watched the rest of the kids and moms waltz away. He was wearing his "mean face" and I was just a bit disappointed that my little guy refused to participate in this rite of preschool passage. Someone snapped a photo of this memorable moment. It's framed and hanging in my house. I have to admit, it's the best picture the two of us have together to this day. Yes, you just have to laugh when things don't go exactly the way you've envisioned.
