We all know that a child preschool-age and older should know his/her phone number and address by memory. But Kathy G. contacted Inspired Mother today with some basic information that many of us may forget should our child disappear for any reason.

Kathy reports that she "found" a lost child in her neighorhood today, a boy barely seven who was shaken to have lost his way.

By the time he was able to relay his phone number to her, the boy's family and neighbors had gone into emergency mode and were hitting the streets searching for him. Unfortunately, nobody was at home to call and Mom's cell phone went unanswered when Kathy repeatedly called. The boy was eventually reunited with his family and all is well, but the situation could have been much less painful.

A lesson for all of us parents: If a child is missing and you rush out, leave a family member or neighbor at home and/or with a cell phone. Be accessible at all times.

Thanks, Kathy, for a valuable reminder! Parents be accessible.
